| Calcium Scoring
Calcium scoring is the latest and most advanced non-invasive heart imaging to identify early heart disease before it is a problem. The test can visualize the calcium build within the arteries, if any, more quickly and reliably than ever before. The test takes only 15 minutes and is painless. Best of all if there’s a problem you’ll find out while there is still time to act.
Calcium Scoring requires no preparation. It takes only minutes while the patient is in a CT scanner and then the patient is free to resume their normal activities.
Which patients shoudl have this test?
- A man 45 or a woman 55 or older, or past menopause.
- Patients with a family history of heart disease.
- Patients that smoke or are exposed to second-hand smoke.
- Patients that have high cholesterol or high blood pressure (hypertension).
- Patients with an inactive lifestyle.
- Patients that are overweight.
Payment
At the current time unfortunately, Calcium Scoring is not reimbursed by most insurance companies. Patients will be asked to sign a waiver when they arrive at the center for payment. If insurance is billed and denied (as in most cases), the patient will be billed for the entire charge.
